Akua : Modifiers

A range of modifiers for use with Akua Intaglio Inks and Akua Liquid Pigments.

The Tack Thickener is great for thickening Akua Liquid Pigment and also adds gloss for heavier roll-up applications. Blending Medium is used with both Akua Liquid Pigment and Akua Intaglio Ink and is used to thin the ink for brushwork, wash effects or used as a resist for viscosity monotypes.

The Retarder has two purposes - A few drops mixed into Akua Liquid Pigment help transfer ink onto dry paper during the printing process. It can also be added to Akua Liquid Pigment to prevent the ink from drying on the monotype plate thereby extending the working time of the ink. Liquid Extender is used to thin Akua Liquid Pigment if it has become too thick. Release Agent is needed to release Akua Liquid Pigment brushwork from plate to paper when hand-printing monotypes and is also used for creating ghost prints. Adding the Transparent Base to Akua Liquid Pigment will thicken it and allow you to create new intaglio or relief colours. When mixed with Akua Intaglio, Akua Ink Stiffener adds depth to and stiffens the ink.
