Ampersand Museum Series Aquabord is an acid-free, archival panel with a textured clay surface designed to absorb watercolours in a similar way to cold pressed paper. It supports watercolour, gouache, casein, and acrylic, while resisting tearing, shrinking, and buckling under heavy water application.
The surface allows colour to be lifted back to white when wet or dry, supporting highlights, fluid glazes, and transparent layers. Before use, flush the panel with water using a large flat watercolour brush to release trapped air, then begin working while the surface is slightly damp. Finished watercolour or gouache paintings can be sealed with several light coats of spray varnish or fixative in a well-ventilated area. Aquabord is available as a 3mm flat panel for framing behind glass or with a 22mm cradle for frameless presentation or floater frames.
