Ampersand Museum Series Gessobord is made from 3mm high-density artist hardboard using Aspen wood fibres, with a bright white acrylic gesso ground. The lightly sanded surface provides controlled brush handling without dulling colours, while Ampersand’s Archival-Seal barrier helps prevent support-induced discolouration. The panel is acid-free, non-yellowing, archival, and formaldehyde-free.
Gessobord is suitable for oils, acrylics, and mixed media, including fine brushwork, palette knife painting, thin glazes, alla prima techniques, and impasto. It is available as a 3mm uncradled panel or with a handcrafted 13-ply birch plywood cradle in 22mm and 38mm depths. The 38mm profile can be used with standard canvas and floater frames.
