An oval-shaped needle made from high-carbon tool steel and designed to be resharpened. These etching needles are set in a wooden handle, with an oval steel shaft cut at an angle to create an oval profile. As you move the tool through the ground, you can rotate the shaft to vary the thickness of the line, creating marks that swell and contract.

This is an oval needle for etching and lithography measuring 190mm/7.5in total length, oval profile approximately 1.5mm across.
