An aqueous paste medium that, when mixed with Holbein Duo-Aqua Oil Colour, results in a translucent and matte finish while dramatically accelerating drying time. When mixing Duo Quick Drying Medium Mat and Duo Aqua Oil Colour in equal parts substrate will become tacky in as little as 30 minutes. The overall matt effect varies from colour to colour. It can be thinned with water, reducing the gloss effects, and a milky appearance from adding water will become clear when dry. Avoid applying in thick layers as this may cause wrinkling.
Holbein Duo-Aqua Oil is an artist quality water-mixable oil paint made with watersoluble linseed oil. It has all of the handling characteristics of traditional oil paints, but can be thinned or cleaned up with just water. These paints have a uniform drying time, retain brushmarks for rich painterly textures, and dry to a lustrous sheen just like traditional oils. Duo-Aqua is available in over 80 colours, 75 of which offer optimum permanence. These colours are free of pigments derived from heavy metals.
