Jackson's Gesso Primer is excellent for use on a range of surfaces, including canvas, wood, or board. It can be used as a ground for oil paints, acrylics, or mixed-media work.
Gesso is used to ensure artworks remain stable, permanent, and long-lasting. It is made from acrylic resin, with a high pigment strength to provide the best coverage. Typically used straight from the tub, it can be applied with a flat priming brush or roller.
Two or three coats of gesso is advised for best results. Jackson's Gesso dries to a flexible film with a slight tooth. It can also be sanded to produce a smooth, silky finish.
We recommended leaving the surface to dry for at least 2 hours before applying a second coat. The surface will be ready-to-use in approx. 24 hours.
