These Jacquard Procion MX Dyes are specially formulated for ice dyeing. Jacquard’s Ice Dye colours create dramatic, distinct colour splits on cotton fabrics.
Ice dyeing is a simple process: soak cotton fabric in a soda ash solution (2 cups per gallon of water), wring out, and tie, fold, or scrunch the fabric. Place it in a colander, cover with ice or snow, and sprinkle the dye over the ice. Allow the ice to melt overnight in a warm place, then rinse and wash the fabric 24-48 hours later.
As the ice melts, the component colours of the blended dye split and separate, producing a crystalline pattern of vibrant, distinct colours.
Suitable for use with cellulose fibres including cotton, linen, canvas, hemp, jute, ramie, sisal, paper, rayon, and more.
