This superb artist-grade paper from Saunders Waterford is a 100% cotton watercolour paper, with a structure giving it strength and a characteristic feel. The manufacturing process, using a cylinder mould, makes it possible to obtain harmonious and varied grains with rough, cold pressed, and hot pressed quality.
The paper is gelatin-sized, and then air-dried, so that the colours retain a fine rendering even after being scraped and erased. Its natural whiteness (no optical bleaches), mildew protection and neutral PH mean that the paper has a very long shelf-life. Saunders Waterford paper is also endorsed by the Royal Watercolour Society.
These sheets have a Not (cold pressed) surface. The surface of the paper is slightly textured, and is not suitable for extremely detailed work. Most painters will find it suitable for most purposes. For more information on the production and properties of watercolour papers, click here.
