The Schmincke Horadam Watercolour Ginko Set of 20 Half Pans contains a mix of 12 standard and eight supergranulating watercolours. This set has a beautifully designed tin featuring the artwork ‘Ginko’ by the Spanish artist María Botella. The compact tin has built-in colour-mixing areas and a convenient thumb ring on the base.
In order to achieve the highest standard regarding lightfastness, resolubility and stability, Schmincke use the best raw materials available. There is no compromise in quality – the highest standards of artists' pigments allow the highest level of lightfastness.
Schmincke's watercolour binding medium is Kordofan gum arabic from the Sahara region. Due to it differing from year to year, it is tested, and the best of the batch is selected to use with their pigments. They use an optimal amount of ox gall to avoid undesired coloured formations and undissolved pigment, allowing the perfect flow of colour.
Horadam Supergranulating Watercolours are made using the same formulation as standard Horadam Watercolours but with pigments that have a natural tendency to granulate. By combining two or more pigments in one paint, they complement and enhance the colour in combinations and create an incredible texture on the surface of the paper.
