In 2025, Schmincke reformulated Primacryl with an innovative binder that contains no synthetic polymer microparticles, making the paint microplastic-free. Of the 90 colours, 89 are free from animal-based ingredients, and all tubes and jars are made from recycled plastic.
The heavy body consistency of Primacryl Professional Heavy Body Acrylic Paint makes it suitable for a wide range of painting techniques, from fine brushwork to heavily textured impasto. There is minimal colour shift between wet and dry paint for accurate colour matching, and the range has lightfastness ratings of four and five stars. All Cadmium colours are Cadmium-free and formulated with alternative pigments to closely match traditional Cadmium colours.
