Speedball’s Speedy-Carve Blocks are designed for relief printmaking. They have a soft, putty-like surface which is easier to cut than traditional linoleum, and are designed for use with lino cutting tools. As they are flexible, Speedy-Carve Blocks can be used to print onto flat or curved surfaces.
As in lino-cutting, the desired design is cut in reverse into the surface of the block with gouges or knives. Watersoluble or oil-based ink is then transferred to the raised, uncut areas of the block using a roller/brayer. The design can be printed onto paper or fabric, in a press or by hand. The blocks are latex-free.
